Lewis R. Eddins (Red) and Marjorie S. Eddins (Tillie) of Greene County Virginia. She was joined by and is survived by her sister Vivian E. Mundy, where they grew up together in a neighborhood of childhood friends and cousins while attending schools in Charlottesville VA. During their teen years, they enjoyed
weekend visits to see their grandparents in Greene County when allowed to use the family car for
strictly going for those visits, with multiple stops along the way, that Daddy and Momma eventually found out about.
She is also survived by two aunts, Barbara E. Snow (Whirley) of Dyke Virginia and Virginia "Paige" E. Silvers of Warrenton Virginia, whom she adored and cherished many memories of times together. She was inspired by their tenacity to enjoy life to the fullest.
Once Jean completed her education, she had a successful career of 42 years of service with State Farm Insurance located at Barracks Road prior to being moved to Pantops Mountain in Charlottesville.
During her career with State Farm she was able to travel for training. This travel piqued her curiosity for
travelling to Alaska, the Islands, England, and Ireland on her vacation excursions. She enjoyed sharing about the beauty and adventures of her travels, but always found Charlottesville to be home. She also enjoyed reading and the music and concerts of Jimmy Buffet and Gordon Lightfoot. She enjoyed the companionship of her many dogs. Nature was a form of therapy for her as she enjoyed horseback riding and caring for horses on a farm she visited many times and taking weekend hikes and tent camping on canoe or kayaking getaways.
She is also survived by her nieces, Connie M. Thurston (Gary), Teresa M. Reinmiller (Tony); great nephew, Christopher Reinmiller; great niece, (Chelsea); great-great nephew, Isaiah; great-great nieces Hadley, Shiloh and Olive; great nephews, Jared Reinmiller and Josh, whom she shared many visits for just because occasions, birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas celebrations. She always made sure to bring the family favorite Chandler's Bakery pies for those occasions. She always made sure to let each of us know how much she appreciated, loved us and was thankful for how our lives intertwined.
During the past two years Jean was cared for by Donna Shifflett and Ginny Henderson. Ginny Henderson who has been a family friend for many years also became like a daughter to Jean and affectionately referred to her as her "Bahama Mama Baby Daughter".
Jean was giving and loving to those she chose.
She had a phrase : "I've been kicked out of better places than here."
So on Friday September 29 2023, she made it to the best place to be.
Services will be a private graveside service at Monticello Memory Gardens with Danny Fisher officiating.
