OBITUARY

Jeffrey Scott Freeman

November 20, 1956 – March 4, 2022
Obituary of Jeffrey Scott Freeman
IN THE CARE OF

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jeffrey Scott Freeman, 65, passed away on March 4, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Born on November 20, 1956, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Freeman and Shirley (Ross) Freeman.

He is survived by his brother, Neil Freeman, and wife, Glenda; niece, Whitney Edwards and husband, Derek; and nephew, William “Will” Freeman.

Jeff graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1975 and graduated from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor’s Degree. As a gifted athlete, coach and mentor, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at both Waynesboro High School and Lynchburg College.

He was thankful for the opportunity to give back to his hometown, serving ward “C” of Waynesboro City Council. He was active in many clubs and organizations, including Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 680. Always in search of the “American Dream” of owning and operating a business, he started a family business, Softball City, which he built from the ground up and continued to operate for 18 years. He was always looking to make improvements and even had a patent on file. Jeff enjoyed officiating basketball and umpiring baseball in the Valley, ODAC and ACC conferences. He DJ’ed and hosted many dancing events where he met some of his closest friends.

The family would like to express appreciation to the UVA Kidney Transplant Center, where his brother gave him a kidney and he received a donated pancreas, from Emily Mynster. Also, a special thank you to Bob Argenbright, Urbie Nash and Mary Rose Serafini for their care and friendship during his final days.

There will be a private memorial service with a vigil at a later date.

There will be no viewing or formal services at the funeral home.
