Jesse Joseph Fitzgerald Sr.

Jesse was born in Charlottesville to Hazel M. Fitzgerald and Clinie J. Fitzgerald on July 15th, 1944. Jesse was a long-time employee of Virginia Metal Crafters, retiring as a manager. In his spare time, Jesse enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching TV. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a big Bill Elliot fan. He was a long-standing member of Beech Grove Christian Church.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Leslie B. Fitzgerald; and his favorite canine sidekicks, Amos and Andy.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Becky Fitzgerald of Crimora; his son, Jesse Fitzgerald Jr. of Waynesboro; his daughter, Melinda Fitzgerald Helmick of Crimora; and a granddaughter, Allison Fitzgerald Kennedy (Todd) of Waynesboro. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Caroline Whitesell (Charles) and his good friends, Sam and Anna Phillips.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
