Jimmy Knox "Doc" Watson

Jimmy Knox “Doc” Watson, 74, of Verona passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born January 15, 1943 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Vernon C. and Anna Marie Dean Watson.
Prior to retirement, Doc was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as head of the Maintenance Department for a number of years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Watson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Estes Watson; daughters, Lisa Helmick and husband, Harry Helmick, Jr. of Stuarts Draft and Tina Watson of Charlottesville; grandchildren, Kahla Caricofe Myers and husband, Kyle of Weyers Cave, Joshuah Watson of Charlottesville and Keston Caricofe of Stuarts Draft; great grandchildren, Maddie Watson and Emerson Myers; sisters, Patsy Watson Wheeler and husband, Gary of Nelson County and Vernie Bennett and husband, Ralph of Lyndhurst; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Augusta Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Fisher officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
