John Everette Campbell Jr.

John E. Campbell, Jr, 87, of Fishersville, Va., entered his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va. after
a courageous battle with COVID.
John was born in Lynchburg, Va. to John E. and Thelma M. Campbell on January 21, 1934. He married Thelma L. (Baber) Campbell in 1991. He was an Army Veteran who served proudly as a Military Police officer in the Korean War. He later served the City of Waynesboro as a police officer and retired as Captain of Detectives after 29 years of service.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chester; and two sisters, Jan and Brenda.
John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Thelma L. Campbell; a daughter, Lisa G. Reed and her husband, Kenny, a daughter, Kaye Shaner and her husband, Keith, a daughter, Katie Campbell and her fiancé, Kevin Weade; grandchildren, Kim Reed, Sarah Reed, Dean Shaner, Hailey Stiltner, and her fiancé, Austin Chittum, and John Shaner. He is also survived by a great grandson, Greyson; a brother, Roger Campbell and his wife, Alida; a brother-in-law, David Houff; and sister-in-law, Pat Campbell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave in Waynesboro Va.
There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren at the above address.
