John Karl Dorondo

John was born in Manchester, NH, on February 2, 1948, to the late John Frank Dorondo & Kathryn Joan (Holoboski) Dorondo.

John went to St. James Catholic School in Savannah, GA and Savannah High School.

He married Theresa Elizabeth “Betty” (Clark) Dorondo on May 4th 1973 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

John served in the United States Marine Corps and did two tours in Vietnam, where he was wounded in his back and legs.

John gave his life to the Lord in October and served the Lord with his whole heart. John loved Jesus and was happy to tell everyone what Jesus did for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Frank Dorondo and Kathryn Joan (Holoboski) Dorondo, both of Savannah, GA; and a sister, Flora Jean Garey of St Augustine Florida.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa Elizabeth “Betty” (Clark) Dorondo; his son, John Caleb Dorondo of Waynesboro; the sparkle of his eye, his granddaughter, Alexis (Lexi) Anna Hope Dorondo, of Waynesboro; a very special extended family member, Camron Renee Hope Mize of Waynesboro; three sisters, Kathryn Cain of Jacksonville FL, Valda Dorondo of Lake Elsinore, CA., and Mary Dohaney of Ponte Verdra, Fl.; and one brother, David Dorondo of Cullowhee NC .

A graveside service will be held later this year at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA.

Memorial contributions may be given to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which was close to his heart, 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
