John David Puffenbarger

Born October 3, 1963 in Petersburg, VA, he was a son of Alice Louise (Arehart) Puffenbarger and the late Lenford John Puffenbarger. On March 8, 2017 he married Kristie Donell Crompton. The two shared four wonderful years of marriage together.

J.D. was a 1982 graduate of Stuarts Draft High School. He served his country with the Navy for 17 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waynesboro. J.D. greatly enjoyed joking around with family and friends, collecting skull figurines, watching wrestling, and playing video games. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Annie Lee Puffenbarger.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kristie Puffenbarger; mother, Alice Puffenbarger; two daughters, Cynthia Jewel “C.J.” Puffenbarger Clark and Elizabeth Nicole “Nikki” Puffenbarger (Josh Sprouse); grandchildren, Cloe Boyne, Anna Sprouse and Shane Sprouse; step-children, Kimberly Runnion (Dougie Runnion), Daniel Oakey Roger Spencer, Daniel Ray “Junior” Spencer, Jr., Alyssa Gail Kelly, and April Marie Spencer; sister, Tina Shifflett (Harold Shifflett); brother, Brian Carroll (Jane Carroll); nephew, Jeremy Shifflett; and great-niece, Juliana Shifflett.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2825 Jefferson Lane, Waynesboro.
