John Mark Whitworth

Born November 17, 1933 in Bedford County, Va, he was the son of the late Philip Roy and Edith (Williamson) Whitworth.

John was a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Montvale High School in Bedford County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. John was employed by CFW Telephone Company for 38 years before retiring.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Whitworth; brother, James P. Whitworth.

Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Lee Whitworth of Waynesboro; siblings, Judy Breedlove and husband, Bill of Giles County and Nancy Saunders formerly of Bedford County; as well as several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Carolyn J. See of Stuarts Draft.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Chad Grondin officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Alleghany Memorial Park, 7008 Winterberry Ave., Covington, VA with Pastor Mike Warren officiating.

The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Avante Nursing Home and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love and care of John.
