Joseph Kemper Ellinger

Born March 7, 1924 in Waynesboro he was the son of the late James and Ester (Dooms) Ellinger.

Joseph was a member of Lynside Mennonite Church and Hermitage Chapel. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the former GE and later Genicom Companies where he worked in the shipping department for over 30 years. Joseph was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Navy. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting homes. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Ellinger; as well as ten siblings.

Survivors include his loving children, Jackie Jeffords and husband, Les of Stuarts Draft, Joe Ellinger and wife, Angie of Sunset Beach, NC and Donna Shifflett and husband, Kenny of Stuarts Draft; special grandson, Scotty Ellinger; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
