Katherine Mae "Rennie" Mawyer

Mrs. Mawyer was born on December 4, 1924 in Nelson County, VA and was a daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (Gowen) Martin. She retired from Genesco with 32 years of service. Rennie was a longtime member of Fishersville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Rennie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will greatly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Page Mawyer on March 23, 2002.

Mrs. Mawyer is survived by two sons, Gary Wayne Mawyer and wife Martha of Fishersville, Richard Page Mawyer and wife Frances of Fishersville; two daughters, Mary Ellen Wiseman and husband Linwood of Fishersville, Dolores Forsyth and husband Clarence of Swoope; two sisters, Mickey Varner of Staunton and Joyce Tyree of Schuylar, VA; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 28, 2013 at 11 am at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Larry Jent officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Active pall bearers for the service will be G.W. Wiseman, Cameron Mawyer, Chad Mawyer, C.T. Mawyer, Jeff Mawyer and Stevie Mawyer.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and all the aides of Shenandoah Nursing Home for taking such good care of their Mom during her stay there.
