Kathy Ann (Via) Cassell

Kathy Ann (Via) Cassell, 62, of Mount Solon, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Augusta County on January 17, 1958, a daughter of the late Joseph Gerald and Juanita (Clark) Via. Kathy worked as a Med-Tech at Waynesboro Manor. She also ran a day-care for 14 years and served as a foster parent to many children. Kathy loved and cherished her family and friends, and they always had a special place in her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerold Wayne Via and her dog, Lady. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Flint, Jessica Cassell, and Emily Miller; brothers, Jody Via and Michael Via; grandchildren, Isaiah Cassell, Jeremiah Flint, Cameron and Mariah Miller, Matthew, Alexis, and Aiden Cassell, Logan Miller, and a special “grandson” Buddy Cassell; friend, Morgan Phillips, who was like a daughter to her; as well as extended family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Larry Strickler officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jody Via, Isaiah Cassell, Jeremiah Flint, Devin Cash, Kolby Powell, Lester Sisler, and Dante Martin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The family would to like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff with the Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care of Kathy and her family.
