

Kenneth was born in Waynesboro, to Blanche Coffey and Jesse L. Coffey on September 8th, 1930. He graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1948 before getting hired on with DuPont. In 1951, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for 8 years, including being involved in a firefight in 1952, on the island of Guam, with Japanese soldiers who were unaware that WWII had ended. After leaving the Marine Corps, Kenneth worked for GE for 13 years before ending up back at DuPont.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his sisters, Vera Coffey Bishop and Anne Coffey Higenbotham; as well as his beloved canine sidekick, Trixie and feline friend, Fuji.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 73 years, Anna Coffey of Afton; his sons, Frederick Coffey of Faber, VA, and Kenneth W. Coffey (Barbara) of Waynesboro; his grandson, Eric Coffey (Laurel) of Roanoke; and great granddaughter, Charlotte Grace. In addition, Kenneth is survived by his niece, Susan Miller and nephews, Kevin Bishop and Tim Bishop.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, August 24th, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hebron Baptist Church in Afton with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
