

Born March 3, 1946 in Kansas, he was the son of the late Merle D. and Elizabeth (McCracken) May.
Mr. May earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Kansas University in Lawrence, KS. He was employed by DuPont where we worked as a process support engineer and retired after many years of service in 2005. Ken was a member of the Staunton Augusta R.C. Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, building airplanes, camping and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Ford.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Lavada May; children, Wendy Coffey and husband Allen of Waynesboro and Ken May and wife Carla of Randleman, NC; grandchildren, Derick Coffey and wife Danielle of Lacey, WA and Ryan Coffey of Waynesboro; special niece, Dolly.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 P.M. at Riverview Cemetery on Saturday following the visitation at the chapel.
