Obituary of Kim Stewart Vernier
Kim Stewart Vernier, 59, of Waynesboro, VA, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 10th 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 10, 1959 in New Castle, Delaware, a daughter of the late Franklin and Margaret McKnight Stewart. Kim was an amazing mother, wife, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Her home was always a welcoming hangout for her kids and their friends as they grew up. As an active Team mom of her children’s travel soccer teams, she loved planning tournament trips, providing halftime treats, and cheering from the sidelines. She was a dedicated member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, serving on altar guild and Sunday school teacher where she helped organize numerous fundraisers, mission trips, and outreach events. As an avid lover of the outdoors, she especially enjoyed camping, biking and kayaking with her family in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Vannevar Vernier; her children, Kaitlyn Vernier Keller, Christa Vernier Fisher, and Kyle Vernier as well as their spouses Jason Keller and Matthew Fisher and fiancé Sydney Shelton. She will also be loved and missed by her family including her precious grandchildren, Moxley and Grey Fisher and Carson Keller and her cousins Mamie Hammond and Martha Patridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Stewart. A celebration of life service will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church in Waynesboro this Saturday, July 14th at 1pm. The graveside service will then be at Gracelawn Memorial Park of New Castle, Delaware; Monday July 16th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Hospice of the Piedmont. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
