Lewis Edward Price Jr.

Eddie was born on August 28th, 1947, in Waynesboro to the late Hazel Price and Lewis E. Price Sr. He attended Fishburne Military School and graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1965. Eddie served honorably in the United States Army with the 1st Battalion, 5th Mechanized Infantry, 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1970 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Eddie worked for Waynesboro DuPont as a supervisor and retired with over 25 years of service. Honoring relatives who served in WWII was important to him and he placed a flag on each grave on Veterans and Memorial Days. When thanked for his service as a veteran, he would laugh and say “just don’t ask me to do it again”.

He served on the original Board of Directors for the Waynesboro Generals and was an integral part of production with local community theatre groups, Waynesboro Players, ShenanArts, and Oak Grove Theater.

Grandchildren topped his favorites list. Mentioning them sparked proud stories about each one.

He appreciated art and handmade crafts, in all mediums, and enjoyed “old time” music, and history, both in print and on film. His favorite places were reading on the beach in Avon, NC, visiting Oregon, and living in the woods. Eddie enjoyed being with people, whether it was running into an “old” friend or meeting new ones. When asked, “How are you?” his reply was “I’m fine, just happy to be somewhere.” He truly valued his longtime friends and the stories and experiences they shared.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Becky Parmer Price of Lyndhurst; sons, Jason E. Price of Portland, OR, and Jared P. Price of Lyndhurst. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Anna Price, Oakley Pastoor Price, and Wyatt Pastoor Price; a sister, Becky Price Swartz (Don) of Grottoes, and a brother, Jim “Turtle” Price (Brenda) of Waynesboro. In addition, he is survived by nieces and nephews of Jim and Brenda; the California Clan (Ginny, Rachel, Hannah and Jud) and the Home Bodies (Brenda Ann, James, Jeramiah and their families), and many lifelong friends.

Per the families’ wishes, there will be no visitations or service scheduled at this time; the family will celebrate his life at a later date.
