Mamie Carolyn Budlong

Carolyn (Kittrell) Budlong, 87, of Wintergreen Resort, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Carolyn was born on November 17, 1934, in Farmville, NC, and was a daughter of the late Samuel Howard and Ethel (Jones) Budlong. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, as well as golfing, bowling, and a nice bourbon nightcap, preferably on the rocks. In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years—Bruce Budlong—Carolyn is survived by her children, Leslee Budlong of Roseland, VA; Jeffrey Budlong and wife Christine Vande Velde of Montreal, Canada; Michael Budlong and wife Miroslava of Chapel Hill, NC; Karen Budlong and husband Christopher Rand of Roseland, VA; a brother, Samuel Kittrell of Warrenton, VA; and four grandchildren: Ethan, Riley, Ella, and Mason Budlong. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, VA. A private family service will be held at a later date.
