Maphis Junior Henderson

Maphis Junior Henderson, 75, of Sherando, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 16th, 2012 at Augusta Health surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 1st, 1937 in Augusta County, a son of the late Harry and Alda Henderson.

He was a member of Lynside Mennonite Church and was a retired electrician from Augusta Lumber.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Henderson and Clayborne (Buddy) Henderson.

Maphis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Henderson, two sons, Anthony Henderson and wife Becky, Douglas Henderson and wife Linda, one brother, Bobby Henderson, four grandchildren, Travis Henderson, Patricia Henderson, Erik Henderson, Chris Henderson, four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Henderson, Blake Henderson, Hayden Flickinger, Lane Henderson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Lynside Mennonite Church with Pastors Dennis Kuhns and Marvin Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Henderson, Erik Henderson, Chris Henderson, Ricky Lowery, David Kanagy, Dave Moore and Patricia Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Johnson, Albert Hite, Bill Ledford, Herman Painter and his nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
