Margaret Lillie Goodwin, 85, of Waynesboro passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home.
Born June 1, 1936 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Lula (Brown) Goodwin.
Margaret greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Roger Powell; granddaughter, Lisa Durrette; and longtime companion, Freddie Cabell.
Survivors include her six daughters, Lillie Durrette and husband, Roger of Afton, Frances Cabell, Nancy Cabell, and Florence Cabell all of Waynesboro, Betty Goodwin of Fishersville, and Sue Cabell of Charlottesville; five sons, Freddie Cabell of Nelson County, Stanley Cabell and wife, Patsy of Staunton, James Goodwin and wife, Amanda of Stuarts Draft, Jimmy Goodwin of Winchester, VA, and Joseph Goodwin of Verona; brother, Andrew Goodwin and wife, Brenda of MD; and 86 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
