

Margaret Elizabeth (Luckado) Rudd, 85, of Waynesboro, Virginia went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 12, 2016. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home of the last nine years, The Laurels of Charlottesville, after having fought a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Those who love her will remember her generous heart, engaging personality, sense of humor, strength of character and love for the Lord.
She was fiercely devoted to family and loved singing. In her early 20s, Margaret enjoyed the opportunity to work professionally in the country music industry. The highlight of her career was having one of her songs recorded in Nashville. Most recently, Margaret was a retiree of Hershey Chocolate in Stuarts Draft, which she treasured and valued immensely.
She will be profoundly missed by friends and family. Margaret was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Wilmer L. Rudd; parents, Pinkney and Virginia Johnson; biological father, Edward Luckado; brother, Don Luckado, all of Augusta County; daughter, Joyce R. Huffer; and grandson Joey Reed.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, and six grandchildren. Her children are Jean F. Gondar of Waynesboro (grandson, John), William L. Rudd and wife, Linda of Barboursville (granddaughters, Heather and husband, Gavin, Kristen and Katie), and Ray L. Rudd (grandson, Luke and granddaughter, Abby) and wife Bonnie of Stuarts Draft. In addition, Margaret is survived by two brothers, James J. Luckado and wife, Norma of Staunton and Vernon and his wife, Diane of Browns Summit, North Carolina. She leaves behind as well a magnitude of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Margaret's family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Drs. Mark and Mary Evans and caregivers at The Laurels of Charlottesville. Their love, care and kindness knows no bounds.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Roi Savaiinaea officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the funeral home.

The family suggests that those desiring to provide food, please bring to Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, VA 22939, following the graveside service on Monday.
