Obituary of Marguerite "Marge" Elizabeth (Jonas) Turbet
Marguerite Elizabeth "Marge" (Jonas) Turbet, 97, formerly of Lake Monticello, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Birch Gardens in Staunton, VA. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Eugene Ernest and Viola Marie (Meyer) Jonas. Marge worked until her retirement with ASR where she worked in employee relations and later as an administrative assistant in engineering. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra, the Lake Monticello Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, and her social group the Misfitz. Marge served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Hospice of the Piedmont. Cooking, entertaining guests, and playing cards with friends were a few of her favorite hobbies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Francis Arthur “Frank” Turbet, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ann (Turbet) Blackburn and her husband, Stephen of Nellysford; her nieces, Christine DePutron and her husband, David of Ancramdale, NY and Maureen McMullan and her husband, Jimmy of Red Bank, NJ; her nephews, Gerald Turbet and his wife, Wendy of Enfield, CT, and Brian Turbet and his wife, Shelia of Saint Augustine, FL; as well as numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980. Burial will be private at Oak Lawn Mausoleum & Memory Gardens in Staunton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be made in Marge’s memory to the Lake Monticello Fire & Rescue Squad, 14 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963 or your local SPCA.
