

Born August 24, 1934 in Buckingham County, Va she was the daughter of the late William Johnson and Annie Marshall (Snoody) Turpin.
Marie was a member of First Baptist Church, Waynesboro. As a church member she was a part of the Lucille Davis Circle and helped with Wednesday night meals. Marie was employed by P & M Office Supply where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years until she retired. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Staunton Division #10, J.E.B. Stuart Chapter #156 and the Red Hat Society – La Rouge Chapeau.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Teddy Hughes.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Karen Hughes of Waynesboro and Sharon Vaughan and husband, Eric of Amelia County, VA; grandchildren, Loren Varner, Leslie Jo Varner and Adam Vaughan; great grandchildren, Jackson and Laylon Varner.
Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:30p.m. until 6:30p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
