Mark was born in Waynesboro to Cleo (Haynes) Twitchell and Billy W. Haynes on May 6th, 1955. After graduating from Wilson Memorial High School, Mark went to work at Kroger, where he spent over 20 years, working with his friend, Jimmy. Mark was a lover of all things automotive, so it was unsurprising when, after leaving Kroger, he went into the auto repair industry, running his own shop, Haynes Auto Body, in the 1990s. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed going to car shows, going to the movies, and visiting flea markets, trying to get the best deal. Mark was a generous soul, who was a friend to all, both human and non-human. In addition to his own pets, he took good care of the neighborhood strays who found their way to his door.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his stepfather, Melvin Twitchell; a sister, Carol Faye Davis and husband Alan; as well as his best friend, Jimmy Dooms, and good friend, Danny Riddle.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Whitney Carlson and husband Alex of Stuarts Draft; his stepson, Ricky Daw and fiancée Haley Baker of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Cleora and Denver; and his brother, Jeffrey Haynes and wife Vivian of Florida. Mark is also survived by several extended family members and a large friend group that will miss him dearly.
Per Mark’s request, there are no public services scheduled at this time.
