Martha P. (Hite) Scott

Born June 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Russell R. and Sarah E. (Gentry) Powers.

Martha was a faithful member of Basic United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. In earlier years, she was employed by the former E.I. DuPont and later was employed by Grace Lutheran Church where she worked as a Daycare Teacher for the United Church Nursery for 25 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John G. Hite; second husband, Eric Scott; great granddaughter, Kinley Hite; and ten siblings, James G. Powers, Eldon “Buck” Powers, Billy R. Powers, Deane F. Powers, Ruby Wisely, Anna Lee Pence, Doris Borden and Irene Robertson.

Survivors include her two sons, J. Kent Hite and wife, Beverly of Waynesboro and Jeffrey L. Hite of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Erica Hite, Rhonda R. Henderson and Christy D. Hostetter; great grandchildren, Sutton Hite, Kaitlynn Ross and Elisa Hostetter; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Janet Knott officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jim Childress, Andrew Garasimowicz, Charles Powers, Barry Powers, Kyle Powers and Dean Hostetter.

Those desiring may pay their respects from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the funeral home. There will be no formal visitation.
