Martha Jane Thurston

Martha Jane Jones Thurston, 79, a resident of Summit Square, died at 12:50 PM Monday, December 19, 2011.

She was born November 17, 1932 in Staunton, Virginia a daughter of the late Harry A. and Bess Belle Tuggle Jones.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Earl T. Jones, Harry A. Jones, Jr., Paul W. Jones, Richard L. Jones, Fred Jones, sisters; Evelyn Herndon, Helen Ames and Mary Sholtis.

Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Thurston of Clifton Forge, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Following cremation a graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. David Washburn officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, 301 S. Wayne Ave. Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
