Born October 16, 1937 in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Clara Lee (Henderson) Floyd.
Prior to retirement, Mary was employed by State Farm where she worked as a secretary for 44 years.
She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Afton and the Rockfish Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Mary had a servant’s heart and was a member of the Virginia Baptist Association where she served others through various mission trips.
By nature, she enjoyed taking care of those she loved through her gifts of cooking, baking, and giving of her time. She will be sorely missed by those who loved her but will be remembered by all the ways she cared for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John David Anderson, Jr.; son-in-law, James Nathan Davis; brothers, Jerry and John Floyd; sisters, Nellie Critzer and Dolly Ann Ward; and nephew, Bill Floyd.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Anderson Davis of Afton; granddaughter, Natalie Rose Davis and husband, Bryan Ashley of Afton; great-granddaughters, Hollice Kinsley, Emerson Ray, and Amelia Reign; sisters-in-law, Delores Floyd and Nancy Floyd; brother-in-law, Coy Anderson; nieces, Linda Gordon, Joyce Worth, Tammy Ramsey, Lynn Lowry, Donna Self, and Laurie Jean O’Brien; nephews, Michael Ward, Marco Floyd, and David Floyd, Jr.; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her beloved feline companion, Silvermist.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Hebron Baptist Church, 66 Tanbark Drive, Afton with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held following the committal service at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Marco Floyd, Tommy England, Bryan Ashley, Brandon Harris, Rob Mansfield, Russell Lowery, Kenny Beasley, and Don Fitzgerald.
There will be no formal visitation.
