Mary Tinsley Elkins

Born August 31, 1926 in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late David A. and Nellie J. (Goolsby) Tinsley.

Mrs. Elkins was a member of the former Ladd Presbyterian Church. She was employed by DuPont serving in various roles throughout her years of service and after 41 years she retired. Mary was a lifetime member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority of the Beta Zeta Chapter. In her younger years she was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling and being involved with the Shenandoah Valley Art Center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lennox Elkins; daughter, Judy Marie Martin; one grandson; siblings, William and Clarence Tinsley and Irene Johnson.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Lorri Ann Elkins of Fishersville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Matthew Coiner officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the funeral home.
