Mary (Moses) Wampler

Born June 22, 1931 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late James Arnold William and Phoebe Annie Elizabeth (Madison) Moses.

Mary was a faithful member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church. As a church member, she served as a Deacon, taught both Sunday School and Bible School, and was a member of the choir. She served as a volunteer at Augusta Health for many years and also with the former Recovery Room Thrift Store. Mary enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, cooking for her family and friends, and making wine. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her spitfire sense of humor, having a saying for everything and being witty with her words.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Wampler; one brother, Arnold William Moses; and two sisters, Fleecie (Moses) Dahl and Dorothy (Moses) Conner.

Survivors include her two loving children, Jeffery Wampler and wife, Elizabeth of Crimora and Dianne (Wampler) Meek and husband, David Meek, Jr. of Crimora; two grandchildren, Adam Meek and wife, Rachel of Staunton and Lindsey Deacon and husband, Preston of Waynesboro; sister, Lucille (Moses) Charles of Richmond; sister-in-law, Liz Stone of Fishersville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 174 Dooms Crossing Road, Waynesboro with The Rev. Dr. Henry D. Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Meek, Ronnie Meek, Benny Flory, Reggie Hiner, Vern Fairchilds, Jr., Charlie Fairchilds, Eddie Pairet and Darrell Meek.

Honorary pallbearers will be David and Betty Jo Towler, Grover and Dora Ann Peery, Cody Joe Wallace, David Meek, Sr., Benny Conner, and Bob Campbell.

The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to her everyday caregivers: Betty Jo, Deborah, and Viline and to the staff of hospice especially her nurses and caregivers: Anje, Tracey, Tanya, and Flora for their love and care of Mary.
