
Melanie was born in Lodi, Ohio, to her parents Jim and Joan Tait, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death on August 20th, 2007, by her husband of 34 years, Harvey Clem. After marrying Harvey in June of 1973, they resided in Frederick, Maryland. They moved to Stuarts Draft, Virginia, in 1990 and Melanie remained there the rest of her life.
Melanie and Harvey were passionate about showing dairy cattle. Melanie started showing in 4-H at Medina County in Ohio as well as exhibiting at the Ohio State Fair and North American when it started in Columbus, Ohio. After marriage, her and Harvey traveled to Harrisburg, Madison and Toronto to show cattle. There was never a show they didn't like to attend.
Melanie is survived by her companion of nearly 20 years, Andy Selmon. She is also survived by her brother, David Tait and wife Annie. "We have shared many good memories and will miss her dearly."
There will be no services scheduled locally. At a later date, Melanie will be laid to rest in Frederick, Maryland, alongside her husband.
