Melissa was spirited, beautifully imperfect, and completely herself. She had a free spirit, a little bit of magic about her, and a way in finding beauty in simple things-rain on a metal roof, wildflowers, music, and the people she loved.

She laughed, she loved, she made mistakes, and she lived life in her own way.

She leaves behind her children, Cristal Schuelke and her husband, Matt, Mercedes Powell and her husband, Ryan; grandchildren, Emma Rose, Loreley Elise, and Alijah Belle Schuelke. Above all else, she loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. They were her heart, her greatest joy, and the brightest part of her world.

There should have been more time, more laughter, more stories and more ordinary days together. Instead, we’ll carry her with us in the little things: a familiar song, wildflowers growing where they please, a beautiful night sky, unexpected laughter, and the sound of wind chimes reminding us that she’s still here.

While our hearts ache to lose her, we find comfort in imagining her reunited with her parents, Charley and Sandy Golladay, who went before her and are there to welcome her home.

Her story continues in the people she loved, the memories we keep, and all the little ways she will still find us.

May the moon light her way, may the stars keep her company, and may we feel her magic around us from time to time.
