Born December 10, 1946 in Staunton, he was the son of the late Milton Jackson Gwin and Sarah Barns Gwin.
Jack was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Marines during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Service Manager for Haley Ford in N. Chesterfield, VA and in earlier years at various dealerships in the Augusta area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Thornton Gwin; and one sister, Ellen Gwin Lilly.
Survivors include his sister, Georgia Gwin Holder and her husband, E.E. “Gene” Holder, Jr. of N. Chesterfield, VA; and nieces, Penny Lilly Rexrode, Marcia Holder Conner, Sarah “Beth” Holder Paxson, Pam Lilly Carter, Susan Holder Samer, Melinda “Mindy” Holder Burchett, and Karen Holder Sikon; nephew, David Lilly; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with The Rev. Sarah Payne officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
