Obituary of Myrtle Christine "Chris" Wells
Myrtle Christine “Chris” Wells, 82, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16,2017 at Augusta Health. She was born in Waynesboro on June 26,1934, a daughter of the late Kermit and Phyllis (Lafferty) Moore. Chris was a honorable member of Mt. Zions Baptist Church. She was an avid Harley Davidson rider, being a member of H.O.G.S. and giving her the nickname “Lady Moonshiner”. When she wasn’t riding, she greatly enjoyed working on her award garden and making silk arrangements. Chris was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her daughter,Cynthia Francine Nicholson, great grandson, Camron Willis; sister, Isabella Shifflet; father of her children, Merle H. Potter, Sr. and her adoptive parents, Claude and Mary Lafferty. Left to cherish her memory is her lifelong companion, James Oscar Wells; children, William Potter and his special friend, Faye Mathyas, Tammy Wood, and Donna Ortiz; grandchildren,Bruce Wells, Corey Potter, Christopher Potter, Taunya Terrell-Bell and husband, Derrick Bell, William "Roc" Potter, Michael Willis, Kristin Potter, Brittany Willis, Shawn Steppe, Rachel Steppe, and Lisa Steppe; great grandchildren, Montia Veney, Tre’Avon Terrell, Brandon Terrell, Landon Jones, Jordon Willis, Lili Willis, Nevaeh Potter, Elijah Potter, Abigail Rivera, Eliana Rivera and Eli Rivera; as well as extended family and special friends, Linda and her family, Jeff and his family, Christina Ealy and Calina Kimla. Chris also leaves behind her beloved fur babies. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Chris’s memory to your local ASPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Augusta Health and Dr. Seaton for their loving care of Chris and her family.
