

Nancy Jean (Stinespring) Day, 83, of Waynesboro passed from this earth on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Augusta Health, while being serenaded by her beloved choir director, Pam Barton. She was born in Hot Springs on August 2, 1933, a daughter of the late Cecil Ward and Janet Rosa (Snead) Stinespring.
Nancy was a devoted wife and mother to her family. A graduate of the Waynesboro High School Class of 1952, she supported their yearly class reunions. Her devotion and service were anchored in her faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, where she held many positions since the age of 16; her favorite being choir member number three. Along with her beloved husband, Eddie, she was an active member of the Intermont Military Vehicle Club; sharing their mobile museum to Veterans, Charter member of the American Legion Axillary Post 340. Nancy was an avid bowler in Waynesboro, being known for her high average and always positive attitude to all her team members. Nancy was a loving example of living a life of service with honor and love.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her bothers, Tommy Sr., Hugh “Pete”, Donald, and Homer “Buddy” Stinespring. Survivors include her loving husband, William Edward “Eddie” Day, Jr.; children, William Edward “Tray” Day III and wife, Laurie of Stuarts Draft, Susan Day Mehler and husband, Marc of New Hope, and Andrew Todd Day and wife, Stephanie of Shenandoah; twin sister, whom she faithfully cared for, Nira S. Campbell; four grandsons, Hunter Day, Andrew Viers, Jacob Day, and Jackson Day; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave, Waynesboro, with Pastor Paul F. LaPrevotte officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to her beloved church, Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or the American Legion Post 340, 13 East Side Hwy, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
