Obituary of Nell H. Taylor
Nell Lackey Hillsman Taylor, 96, of 764 Governors Way, passed away at 8:17 AM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at her residence. She was born June 11, 1917 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late George W. and Bessie Virginia Lackey Hillsman. She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Taylor, two brothers; Marshall and William Hillsman, two sisters, Jane Waldron and Byrd Irby. Survivors include a son, Mark Alan Taylor and wife Vicki of Waynesboro, three daughters; Shirley Taylor Martin of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Martha Cowles and husband Robert of Waynesboro, Sue Norcross and husband Douglas of Waynesboro, a sister, Mary Smith of New Jersey, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 22, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Neil Hough Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Chip Hamilton, Whitney Cowles, Gabe Taylor, Lee Wells, Scott Wells, Tyler Hamilton, Jason Hamilton and John Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, and other times at the residence of her daughter, Martha Cowles of 764 Governors Way. Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 West Main Street, Waynesboro, Va 22980 or Hospice of the Shenandoah, P O Box 215 Fishersville, Va 22939.
