Patricia Maureen Baxter Woodson, 85, of Fishersville, Virginia, passed away on May 8th, 2025 at the Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, VA. Patricia was affectionately known as Ms. Pat to the ones who knew and loved her. She was born to the late Lillian Herrell Baxter Huff and Thomas McKee Baxter of Washington, DC on September 29th, 1939. She was the last known surviving member of her immediate family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Pastor James C. Woodson and bonus son Christopher Woodson. She is survived by her two cherished sons, Carl A. Osborne of Montoursville, PA and Thomas B. Osborne(Pixie Umholtz) of Baltimore, MD who she referred to as her “Gifts from God.” In addition to her sons, she is survived by her adored bonus children, Ruby Miller(Cecil) of Lyndhurst, VA Regina Russell(James) of Staunton, VA, Mary Awkward of Stuarts Draft, VA, Lewis Woodson of Atlanta, GA, and Elder Roscoe Harris(Melinda) of Stuarts Draft. Beloved sisters-in- law Clara Sheffey and Naomi Woodson. She is also survived by Franklin and Bonita Woodson, who she considered son and daughter and their two daughters, Shawnte’ and Shaqwan, of Waynesboro, VA and Coral Orso of Montoursville, PA. Alongside a host of special family and friends including; Barbara Cauls, Theresa and Bruce Johnson.
Ms. Pat retired as a secretary and office manager with over 50+ years of experience. Outside of work she enjoyed writing cards and letters to family and friends, swimming, and cheering on her New York Yankees. She had a special interest in music and was no stranger to dancing and singing. Her passion stemmed from her lifelong love of violinist and big band director, Guy Lombardo and her favorite song Autumn Leaves.
She attended the private female catholic schools of Pallotti High School (formally known as Saint Mildred’s Academy in Laurel, Maryland) and St. Mary’s Academy in Leonardtown, Maryland. Ms. Pat found great strength from her religious lessons and converted fully to the Catholic faith in 1954. She was a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton, VA.
Ms. Pat and her family wish to extend their sincere appreciation to Augusta Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Gentiva and Legacy Hospice, Theresa and Bruce Johnson, Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Heather Farrish for her professionalism and caring ways. Ms. Pat and family would also like to extend their adoration to Dr. Donald W. Lee of Carilion Clinic in Waynesboro, VA, Dr. Mohit Nanda of Virginia Retina Consultants in Charlottesville, VA and Dr. Pemberton of Pemberton Eye in Waynesboro and their staff for their kindness, warmth and exceptional care.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
Following the visitation, a memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A requiem mass will be held at a later date. Per her request, Ms. Pat will be cremated and a private burial will be given by her two sons.
Instead of traditional memorials, In lieu of flowers "Ms. Pat" suggests memorial contributions be made in her honor to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and/or to the charity of Disabled American Veterans.
