Paul Perry Brown, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026 at 87, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to family that will endure for generations. Born and raised in Bandy, Virginia, Paul never forgot the values he learned in the mountains of Southwest Virginia: hard work, humility, compassion, and a deep commitment to God and family. Those values guided him throughout his life and were evident in everything he did. Paul married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sedora Jane. Together they built a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Paul and Jane shared nearly 67 years of marriage, a rare and beautiful testament to enduring love, commitment, and partnership.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued a career in engineering. Paul was respected for his intelligence, strong work ethic, and quiet dependability. While Paul valued his career, it was his faith and service to others that truly defined his life. A devoted Christian, he was active in his church for many years and continually sought opportunities to serve those around him. He served as an ICM Chaplain, volunteered with Hospice of the Shenandoah, supported the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, and was a faithful member of The Gideons International. Whether comforting those facing illness, helping families in need, or sharing his faith, Paul lived a life dedicated to caring for others.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Perry Brown, Sr. and Eleanor Louise Steele Brown, and by his four siblings He is survived by his beloved wife, Sedora Jane Brown; his son, Steven D. Brown (Alice); and his daughter, Sheryl B. Harris (Paul). He is also survived by his cherished four grandchildren and his six treasured great-grandchildren.
To his family, Paul was much more than a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. He took great pride in his family and found joy in watching it grow through the generations. His kindness, humility, and servant's heart were gifts that touched countless lives. Though his family grieves his passing, they take comfort in knowing that his faith sustained him throughout his life and that his legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
