Peggy Joyce Campbell

She was born in Waynesboro on December 14, 1940 to the late Carl Smith and Mary E. Lane.

Peggy was loved by so many. She loved dirt track racing, baking cakes for her family and friends and sewing. She was known as MeMaw, MawMaw and Momma Peggy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Campbell; sister, Debra Mayne; brother, Bobby Claytor; sister-in-law, Helen Massie; Mother-in-law, Fannie Harvey; grandson, Robert Baby Sam Reid.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and grandchildren: Tony Campbell and his son, T.J. Hypes, Marie Campbell-Clark and her husband, Darryl and their sons, Cameron Clark and Brent Dull, James W. Campbell and his wife, Alicia and their children, Taylor Love, Anthony Love, Seth Love, Jacob Love, Clyde Campbell, Kayleb Campbell, and Bradley Campbell; Sandra Campbell- Reid and her husband, Tony and their children, Barbara Reid and Lily Reid; sisters, Sharon Craig and her husband, Allen, Joanne Milotte and her husband, Lou, and Dian Hall; brother-in-law, Wayne Campbell and wife, Elaine; sisters-in-law, Anne Shires and her husband, Benny, Elizabeth “ Betsy” Campbell, and Gladys Ross; close friends, Jeff Crowder; as well as numerous extended family. Peggy also leaves behind her little dog, Sammie.

Following Peggy’s wishes for cremation, a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Linden Heights Baptist Church, 371 Linden Drive, Staunton, Virginia with Pastor David Ball officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to services.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at UVA for the care for their mother, as well as a thank you to the staff at Hospice of the Piedmont for their care they gave to their mother during the last month of her life.
