She was born in Augusta County on November 9, 1938, a daughter of the late Esker McClure and Lena Marie (Brooks) Phillips.
Phyllis retired from the Waynesboro School System and was a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ.
She enjoyed going to lunch with fellow retirees from Wenonah Elementary School and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Clinton Stinespring; and two brothers, Hiram Lee and James McClure Phillips.
Survivors include a son, Clinton Stinespring; three daughters, Missy Miller and husband, Bobby, Stacy Wright and husband, Steve, Jenny Wood; four grandchildren, Jamie Ryder, Kyle Wright, Brooke Sheets, Anna Mika; and six great-grandchildren.
Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland St. Waynesboro with Chad Grondin officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Miller, Steve Wright, C.G. Ryder, C. E. Sheets, Baxter Ryder, Kyle Wright, Ryan Cooper, Tim Williams and Frank Mika.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
