Born June 21, 1943 in Monterey, VA, he was the son of Lillian V. (Robertison) Moats and the late Clarence T. Moats.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Wilmer and Clarence, Jr. Moats; sister, Shirley Wheeler.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth J. (Brooks) Moats; brother-in-law, Butch Brooks; his k-9 friend, Fido.
Burial services will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at his home, 300 S. Wayne Ave., Apt 424, at any time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory.
