Rhudene Virginia (Layton) Jenkins

Rhudene was born on April 19, 1927 in Montebello, VA and was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Dollie (Seaman) Layton. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Roy W. Jenkins; and by her sister, Selda L. Henderson.

She is survived by four children, two daughters, Nancy J. Coffey and her husband Lee of Waynesboro, Bonnie J. Crouse and husband Jack of Richmond; Ronnie W. “Buck” Jenkins of Waynesboro, Thomas “Tom” Jenkins and wife Cindy of Waynesboro.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Shannon Fox, Kim Hamilton, Tori Thomas, Brandi Shiflett, Chris Jenkins, Candice King, Bryan Jenkins; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Dawson, Cody Dawson, Maverick Shiflett, Brik Thomas, Ryker Thomas, Rigney Thomas and Lily Fox.

She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will greatly miss her. She retired from G.E./Genicom in May 1986 after 29 years of service.

The family extends their special thanks to her caregivers, Alice Peterson, Marla Wilkins, Mary Jo Ingram, Debbie Shifflett and Ruth Romesburg. The family also wants to thank the staff and administration of Augusta Health for their attentiveness to our mother and our family during a very difficult time.

Funeral services will be held on Monday November 25, 2013 at 11 AM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
