He was born in Waynesboro on October 8, 1933, a son of the late Russell and Annis (Loving) Matheny.

Tuffy retired as an electrician from the DuPont Co. in Waynesboro. He was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dancing Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Clemmer E. and Russell T. Matheny.

Survivors include his wife, Frances “Louise” (Hoy) Matheny; sons, Patrick L. Matheny, Michael L. Fox; Donald L. Fox; sister, Delores M. Ober; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Shane Lilly officiating.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wilson Fire Company or the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
