Ricky Nelson Thompson

Born September 13, 1959 in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late William Robert and Mary Jane (Pugh) Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Staunton. He worked for the City of Charlottesville as a bus driver in the transit department. When he was not working for the city, he enjoyed driving for Blue Ridge Tours twice a week. His greatest passion in life was meeting new people and being able to drive them from one destination to another. Ricky also enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Franklin, Gary and Randy Thompson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 ½ years, Linda (Gregory) Thompson of Waynesboro; step-sons, William P. Campbell and wife, Dreama of Stuarts Draft, Michael Campbell of Waynesboro and Corey Campbell and wife, Jana of Deland, FL; brothers, Roger Thompson, Jackie Thompson, Wesley Thompson all of Waynesboro and Ernie Thompson of Faber, VA; step grandchildren, Jaden, Landon, Shawn Michael and Elysabeth Campbell; step great-grandson, Dominyck Campbell; special sister-in-law, Teresa Thompson of Afton; as well as a large extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Rader Ogden and Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Groah, Cody Groah, Michael Harner, Frankie Campbell, Jim Nissley and Mark Berdine.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
