Rita Marie (Sweet) Reel "Grandma"

Rita Marie (Sweet) Reel, 73, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Avante at Waynesboro. She was born in Waynesboro on August 23, 1944, a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Linda (Pleasants) Sweet. Rita worked as a jack of all trades. She was a very artistic and crafty person. Quilting, sewing, drawing, cooking and coloring were a few of her favorite hobbies. Rita was a very loving mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren; playing video games, sewing clothing for them and doing crafts with them. Rita will be remembered for her being a straight shooter, loving and caring personality. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William Reel and her sister, Mary Jane Bragg. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ricky Edward Sweet, Lynn Marie Sweet and Ronald Lee Sweet and his wife, Leslie; grandchildren, Ariel and Eric Sweet; great-granddaughter, Shanelle Hales; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060, and/or the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
