

He was born in Bloomington, Illinois on January 29, 1953 to the late Samuel Jefferson and Clara Louise (Deal) Hardin.
Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Wymer Hardin; daughter Carrie Little (Mikey); son Michael Hardin (Megan).He leaves his four precious grandchildren, Cooper Little, Cohen Little, Peyton Hardin, Evanne Hardin; brothers, Dennis Espe (Lavonda), Royce Hardin (David Jolly), as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Paul and Evelyn Jett; brother, David Deal and a sister, Delores Whitlock.
Bob graduated from Leesburg High School in Florida and Blue Ridge Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
He began his police career with the Staunton Police Department, later joining the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department where he retired as Sergeant in the School Resources Division. Bob was a member of the Staunton FOE #680 Lodge.
After retirement, Bob loved spending time at the cabin in West Virginia, watching old cowboy movies and going to events for his grandchildren. He was a die-hard Florida State Seminoles fan and a Jimmy Buffett Parrotthead.
Words cannot begin to express his family’s gratitude for the excellent care provided during his illness, including Dr. Rob Marsh, Dr. Janelle Weaver and the Raphine Clinic Staff, UVA dialysis and providers, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice of the Shenandoah.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
