Robert Franklin Smith, Jr.

Born February 8, 1940 in Oak Hill, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Franklin Smith, Sr. and Jessie Forrest Smith. On June 11, 1960 he married Janice Campbell. The two shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Bob was a member of Valley Baptist Church, Stuarts Draft. Prior to retirement, he was employed by DuPont where he worked for 35 faithful years. He greatly enjoyed going fishing and bowling. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Drema Mitchell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Janice C. Smith of Waynesboro; three sons, Robert F. “Bert” Smith, III and wife, Lorie of Moneta, VA, Nelson L. “Nicky” Smith and wife, Mary of Waynesboro, and Jesse “Aaron” Smith and wife, Jessica of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Kyle and wife, Beth, Lauren, Hannah and husband, Josh, Rachel and husband, Noah, Paige, Jenna and Farrah; and great-grandchildren, Addileigh, Abby, Gabriel, and Zachary.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Riverview Cemetery, 420 Rosser Ave., Waynesboro with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
