
Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from Reynolds Manufacturing. Jimmy was a gunsmith and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He greatly enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Burnett and son-in-law, James Crawford. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Frances “Buggy” Burnett; daughters, Rebecca Crawford of Harrisonburg, Kay Burnett and husband, David McKinnon of Waynesboro, and Robin Burnett and husband, Steven Griffin of Burlington, VT; daughter-in-law, Brenda Burnett of Radford; grandchildren, Robert Crawford and wife, Bookie of Richmond, Andrew Crawford of Harrisonburg, India Burnett Farmer and husband, Andrew of West Pawlet, VT, Alder Burnett Holliday of Floyd, and Rachel Burnett of Radford; 6 great grandchildren; Delores Pleasants of Xenia, OH; brother-in-law, Leo Cloutier of Waynesboro and sister-in-law, Irma Hintz of Sun Prairie, WI.
Following Jimmy’s wishes to be cremated, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jimmy’s memory to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew, 201 W. Board Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
