Born June 15, 1952 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Dewey Stephen and Julia Hilda (Mays) Floyd.
Samuel was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church, Afton. He retired from DuPont after 30 years of service. Along with his wife, he operated Pot Luck Farm and enjoyed selling his crops at the various local farmers markets and flea markets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Floyd.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Patsy Snell Floyd; his children, Jason Floyd of Afton and Kristin Floyd (Chris Ferrufino) of Troy, Va; grandchildren, Naomi Elizabeth Floyd and Sophia Wren Ferrufino; brother, Robert Floyd (Judy) of Afton; sister, Joan Kershner (Jim) of Raphine, Va; and his nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no formal services.
