She was born on August 15, 1925, in Trieste, Kingdom of Italy, under Victor Emmanuel III, the daughter of the late Carlo and Anna (Lucac) Bacer of Trieste.
She worked as a translator at a Triestine hospital and in accounting at Syracuse Supply in Syracuse, NY. On August 2, 1952 in Trieste she married George Francis Edwards, an electronical engineer with General Electric. Her love for traveling was satisfied by living in Trieste, Verona and Vicenza, Italy; and various states across the US. While living in the US, they had their daughter, Dawn Ann Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards had an appreciation for opera, which she grew up loving and was highly talented in design. She often shared her experiences of living two years under Nazi occupation in Trieste during World War II and witnessing the injuries and loss of human lives and the destruction in the city. Family and faith, above all, carried her throughout these times and informed her for the rest of her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her older sister, Anita Bacer who died in infancy; brother, Luciano Carlo Bacer; and half-brother, Carletto Bacer.
She is survived by her family she enjoyed so much, especially her loving daughter, Dawn Ann Edwards, of New York, NY and Chicago, IL; half-brother, Ferruccio Bacer; niece, Elena (Bacer) Ghezzo; nephew, Alessandro Bacer; and grandniece, Celeste Ghezzo, all of Trieste.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro, followed by a reception in the church cafeteria. Mrs. Edwards will be inurned at Cimitero di Sant’ Anna in Trieste.
