Shirley was born in Waynesboro, VA, to Worth and Nellie (Robertson) Wheeler on March 31st, 1938. She was a homemaker after working at Morton Frozen Foods, WayneTex, and Blue Ridge Christian Home. Shirley was a member of White Hill Church, where she was involved in Women’s Fellowship and Bible School.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold L. Englert; a sister, Thelma Thompson; and two brothers, Ray Wheeler and Jimmy Wheeler.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Susan Englert McDaniel (Tim) of Lyndhurst; three granddaughters, Leisa Ryals (Joseph) of Louisa, VA, Lindsey Sobczak (Paul) of Waynesboro, VA, and Lauren Paradise (Damion) of South Dakota. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Teagan Stumpf, Bryson Stumpf, Emersyn Stumpf, Griffin Ryals, Hailey Gilbertson, Madison Gilbertson, Colby Sobczak, Knolan Sobczak and Andrew Paradise; her sister, Jean Fisher; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at 1:00 PM at White Hill Church with Pastor David Chappell officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.
Pallbearers will be, Steve Fisher, Nathan Altizer, Joseph Ryals, George Kennedy, Danny Grant, and Mitch Moore.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31st, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the White Hill Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or White Hill Church.
