Stella M. Batten

She was born on February 5, 1938 in Dooms, a daughter of the late John F. and Mattie Gayhart Meek.

She was a Presbyterian by faith and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John F. Meek Jr.; two sisters, Sylvia Meek Boone and Carolyn Meek Craig; and a great-niece, Michelle Baber.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Batten Jr.; a daughter, Diane Elizabeth Weaver of Amherst; five brothers, R. M. Meek of Crimora, David M. "Butch" Meek of Dooms, Randy Meek of Dooms, Kenneth Meek of Dooms and Lloyd Meek of Greenville; three sisters, Dora Ann Peery of Dooms, Betty Jo Towler of Dooms and Debbie Meek of Dooms; two grandchildren, Dwayne Allen Batten, James Matthew Batten; and two great-grandchildren; Jaylene Batten and Landen Batten.

A private family graveside service will be held at Augusta Memorial Park by the Reverend Will Heyward.

Family members attending the service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.

At her request, there will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, c/o The First National Bank of Mt. Dora P.O. Box 95, Mount Dora, FL 32756-0095.
