Obituary of Susan (Falls) Pleasants
Susan Rae (Falls) Pleasants, 50, of Afton, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021 at the home of her special friend, Clayton Wade. She led a long and private battle with cancer. Never wanting pity and always wanting to live a normal life, she kept her many struggles to herself and her immediate family. She maintained high hopes for recovery until the end. Susan was born in Waynesboro, on December 10, 1970, to John Harvey Falls and the late Virginia Falls. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.W. and Helen Falls, Martha Dodd, T.W. “Sam” and Carlene Carter. In addition to her father, she is survived by her devoted sister, Darlene Falls Mawyer and husband, Randy; beloved niece, Melandy Mawyer Absher and husband, Roby; much adored infant great niece and her namesake, Virginia Rae Absher. She also leaves her foster brother, Palmer Putnam and his sons, Keith, Taylor, and Conner whom she loved dearly. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her boyfriend and caregiver of the last few months, Clayton Wade and his parents O.J. and Betty Wade who provided her with care, love and support. Her family is forever grateful. Last but certainly not least, her beloved pets, Sylvester, Tiger, Blackie, Dallas, Nelly and Nolita. They will miss her the most, as they were her children, as well as many of the barn kitties too numerous to mention which she helped care for and she would be very upset if they were left out. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Rodes United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Rob Mansfield officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may share condolences and memories with the family online by visiting www.reynoldshamrickfuneralhomes.com
